I plant plenty of Thai basil this year and is growing really well. I usually will put it in my green curry and also cook chicken dishes with it. I remember eating this fried rice at a Thai restaurant with my niece not too long ago and it was really good. Thai basil is very fragrance and will give the dish you cook with it a very special aroma. It smell complete different from the Italian basil. The leaves are less round and the stalks are purple. You can find it easily at any Asian supermarket or Vietnamese store. Better still grow it yourself.
I put BBQ meat, green peas, carrot, egg, garlic, thai basil and brown rice and season it with salt & pepper, oyster sauce and soy sauce.
Put in the basil at the end of the cooking
Is done !!!

I love BBQ meat on my fried rice. I sure will give a try adding basil to my fried rice next time.
Hi!, thank`s for dropping by my blog. Hmm..your fried rice looks nice and delicious. Is it with Thai Basil?. Here, I can find some kinds of Basil in Asia´s store, which one do you use?. I love hairy basil, especially cooked with steamed fish.
Cat, do try it with basil and I am sure you will like it.
Retno, thanks for dropping by. Yes, is Thai sweet basil and is the the kind that sold at Asian store. I plant the basil.
Wan, my Thai Basil at home also same as yours. Grown really well and sometimes got to throw it away. Try ' 3 cups chicken' with Thai Basil. Taste good too. My mom used Thai Basil in egg omelette. But I don't really like it.
Sue, I heard that 3 cups chicken is good. I am going to try it out. Thanks for the suggestion.
The khek called basil leaves as "kim putt fon".
My mother pound it together with garlic, chilli padi. Season to taste with salt and vinegar.
Usually serve as a sauce with steamed chicken.
Btw your rice looks yummy.
knock-knock! Gert, haven't been here for a while and delighted to see so much to slurrrp on! Did you make the BBQ meat yourself? David just looked over my shoulder, "Is that fried rice? Looks delicious. What makes it different from yours?" He ain't getting any next week. LOL!
Hi Rita, good to see you again. Been a while since you drop by. No I bought the BBQ meat from Wegman's rather than Chinatown because chinatown BBQ smell kind of 'porky' Wegman's one is better but a bit more expensive. Poor David...;)
Nonya, not sure what Thai Basil is call in Chinese. I never knew about it until I came here.
Gert, what is 3 cups chicken? Sounds delicious.
Zue, if I am not mistaken is call 3 cups chicken becuase it uses 1 cup sesame oil, 1 cup soy sauce and 1 cup cooking wine to cook the chicken. If I masak tak boleh lah because I masak sikit saja. Have to change the name to 1/4 chicken ;)
Gert, 3 cups chicken sound delicious.
