Sesame Cookies

I love these cookies because they’re quick and easy to make. You don’t even need a mixer to do this as you can just mix it by hand. It is lightly sweeten but you can add more sugar to it. The sesame seeds gave these cookies a very nice nutty flavor to it and it goes really well with a cup of tea.

Ingredients:

1 stick/1/2 cup unsalted butter – room temperature
½ cup of sugar
1 cup + 3 tbsp of flour
½ tsp salt
½ tsp baking soda
1 egg
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
1 cup of sesame seeds, lightly toasted

Essential Items Every Home Chef Needs

Written by: Quintin Bentley Crevling

To craft fine cuisine in your kitchen you need the proper tools. Here are the essential items every kitchen needs:

Apron
Cooking is a messy process with hot materials splattering everywhere. Protect your clothing from stains and burns by wearing an apron . This inexpensive item will save you from ruining your favorite shirt and will work as a rag to wipe your hands on. These are also great to wear while you wash dishes, so water doesn’t soak your clothes.

Sharp Knives
It’s safer to have sharp knives rather than dull knives. When you use a dull knife it is more likely to slip around the surface rather than slice directly into it. Sharp knives are also easier to use because they cut into food with less force. Of course, you must always use proper technique and keep your fingers out-of-the-way!

Set of Pots and Pans
Nothing is worse than trying to cook a large meal for several guests and needing larger pots and pans. Conversely, you don’t want to pull out a giant wok every time you want to fry an egg. Having a full set of pots and pans makes cooking more convenient and easier to manage. Having a lid is very important in the kitchen, so make sure each pot and pan have a lid that fits properly.

Measuring Cups
Many recipes require an exact amount of ingredients, so it’s important to have measuring cups for every size. Smaller measuring cups will get the majority of use in your kitchen, but you should still invest in larger measuring bowls that can hold several cups of ingredients.

Mortar and Pestle
A mortar and pestle are essential items for any flavor lover. If you add seasonings and herbs to everything you cook, you must start making your own spices. Store bought spices come packed with artificial filler ingredients to save the company money. Homemade spices will have a more natural taste and you will actually eat what you paid for. Make sure to buy a large mortar so you can make authentic homemade dishes like guacamole, pesto, and hummus.

Food Processor
A food processor will save you time and energy chopping food and making delicious freshly pressed juice. When you buy a food processor, make sure it comes with a large enough bowl for your needs. Like many items on this list, it’s nice to have one in various sizes. Make sure to buy one with a juicer, so you can make healthy natural juice with more nutritional value than store-bought juices.

Dehydrator
Australians waste roughly $8 billion of food each year. To combat this rising epidemic, you should buy a food dehydrator to save food before it goes bad. There are countless recipes to dehydrate meals to extend its shelf life. You will no longer worry about buying too much fruit because if it starts to go bad you can make bite size dehydrated fruit pieces, or blend it up to make fruit leather.
