Strawberry Jam

Strawberries are abundance now and it can be really cheap. I bought a few pounds of it the other day. Some I had it fresh and some I made it into jam. This recipe yield 2 jars and it will last me for some time. I usually have it with toast or scones.

Ingredients:
Recipe source: My Kitchen Snippets

5 cups strawberries – halves or quarters
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice

1. Combined strawberries and sugar in a heavy medium saucepan and bring it to a simmer over medium heat.

2. Stir frequently and remove the bubbles on the top. Simmer for over an hour or until thick, stirring occasionally.

3. Remove from heat and stir in the lemon juice. Cool at room temperature before storing it in jars. Refrigerate it.

Note: You can always use other fruits like blueberries, apricots, peaches for the jam.

I also made strawberry jam but that was 2 weeks back, and homemade ones taste so so much better than store bought because we get to control the sugar amount.
It actually cost less than buying even tho strawberries are so so expensive here.
How I wish I can afford to buy a few pounds of it, just like u.

It's a luxury to have homemade strawberry jam to enjoy at home:)Especially if the strawberries are so expensive here!

My goodness, the jam looks just so so inviting! Hope that I'll have the chance to get some really cheap fresh strawberries for this. Hopefully, I'll have the luck!
Btw, you've been tagged in the 7 links challenge. Hope you'll join in the fun. Have a great day!
Blessings,

i trust home made jams are definately much more better and tastier than bought ones. Some jams here use essence to enhance the flavours actually.

Sally, I keep the jam in the fridge and it last me over a month without any problem.

Raquel, thanks for stopping by.

Wendy, yes the store bought one is not good. Too sweet and hardly any strawberries in it. I too like making own jam with seasonal fruits. I threw out lots of my frozen fruits when we have power outage from Hurricane Irene. No elec. for nearly 4 days :(

Jeannie, yes they are the best and you can control the sweetness.

Kristy, I will do the 7 links tag soon.

Ann, yes I like jam with chunky fruits in it :)

Biren, me too. Strawberries are pretty cheap here.

Elin, your WB like jam too. Carlos complaint that my homemade jam is not sweet enough :(

Lena, yes loads of fruits, no preservative and not as sweet :)

do i need to add pectin?

Caca, thank you.

Coreen, thank you.

Smallking, wwelcome to my blog and no, you don't need pectin. The lemon juice is the natural pectin and it will thickens up the jam.
