French Toast with Maple Syrup and Fresh Fruits

I made French toast for breakfast mainly because I needed to use up my cinnamon bread. I think the trick to making excellent French toast is to use a good hearty bread like whole wheat so it doesn’t get soggy. Serve warm with some maple syrup and fresh fruits.

Ingredients :

6 slices bread (I used whole wheat cinnamon raisin swirl)
¼ cup of milk
1 egg
½ tsp cinnamon

Topping :

Fresh fruits
Maple syrup

1. Mix egg, vanilla and cinnamon together. Stir in milk.
2. Melt a tablespoon of butter in a non stick pan over medium heat. Dip bread in mixture and pan fried it on both side until golden brown.
3. Serve warm with some syrup and fresh fruits

i don't normally add cinnamon and vanilla into the egg and milk mixture, i think i would give it a try as i think it would give the toast a better taste.

Meeso, yes. I notice if I used white bread it will get soft and mushy.

Lesley, we don't have IHOP or Denny's here so I have to make this myself :)

Jun, tak apa. Buat ni untuk your sendiri makan :)

Emile, yes try using firm bread for when you make this.

Risa, happy weekend to you :)

LCOM, yes I am just trying to make it a bit healthier. Who am I kidding, right :) :)

Dura, thank you and thanks for stopping by.

Cindy, by adding cinnamon it give the toast an extra fragrant to it.

I like french toast too. It is easy and quick to make. My favorite bread is the texas toast cut. Hunky and firm. No need to count calories ok.

I love French Toasts and I agree with you about using a more wholesome bread that can stand on it own. White bread are delicious but they fall apart too easily unless it's sliced really thick. It'll pack some on the hips then. :P
