Green Onion and Cilantro Flat Bread

I like this type of flat bread with curry. Normally I just get the readymade ones from Trader Joe’s but this time I try making it myself. I started looking up for some recipes online and there were so many versions out there. Some add ghee to it, others add milk and some added chick pea flour to it which I don’t have in my pantry. So I came up with the simple version of flat bread. I think I roll them too thin so it resemble more like tortilla than flat bread ha ha…nevertheless, it taste pretty good especially the crispy edges and dipping it into curry. 1 1/2 cup flour
3/4 Cup water (you might need another 1-2 tbsp)
½ tsp salt
1 tbsp vegetable oil
1 tbsp chopped cilantro
1 tbsp chopped green onion

1. Combined flour and salt together. Then add in the oil and water. Knead into smooth dough. If the dough is too stiff you might want to add another tbsp of water.
2. Add in the chopped cilantro and green onion. Continue to knead for a few minutes. Rest the dough for 20 to 30 minutes. Cover with wet towel, so that dough doesn't dry out.
3. Give the dough a few more knead and divide it into 6-8 balls of dough (depend on the size you like) and roll it out thinly with a rolling pin.

4. Heat up a non-stick pan over medium high heat; brush it lightly with a bit of oil. Pan-fried the bread on both side until lightly brown (once you start seeing some color, air pockets will form) you have to press them down with a spatula for even cooking.
5. Remove the bread and serve it warm with some curry or you can use it as a wraps.

How did you manage to roll out the bread until so round like that?If I buat sure will end up triangle and at best rectangle..lol!I'll try to make this one day..celup with curry sure best.

It does look like chappati! =D I wonder if it's as tasty as chappati... =) Do you think only non-sticks pans are suitable for this dish? Cause I only have Corningware.

Gert, your flatbread looks paper thin . I must try making this too. I make some chapati too :) to go with the dhal curry. Your flatbread looks so round . I cant never do that..even my chapati look irregular :p

Btw..I have send the heart shaped silicone molds to you on monday, hopefully you will receive it in two weeks time.

Shereen, the one you see in the pictures are round. The one not in the pictures look bad ha ha..

Linda, I find prata a bit on the oily side so this one is better.

Waverly, yeap taste like chappati too. You can always fry it on a wok or any type of pan.

Elin, I see you too made some chappati. I wish I have your dhal curry to go with it and thanks for the silicone moulds.

Lesley, I stop using the lamps a long time ago. I don't like the look of the pictures so all pictures were taken with natural light.
