Honey BBQ Chicken Wings

Carlos Company gave me a deep fryer a few years ago but I never thought of using it until now. I finally put it to good used and fried these chicken wings with it. I know this is not the healthiest dish to serve but hey life it short. We need to indulge ourselves once a while. Put aside the health implications of fried food, there is nothing much that beats crispy deep fried wings.

Ingredients:

20 chicken wings- clean, cut and tips removed
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
½ garlic powder
1 tsp paprika
1 cup flour

Sauce:

1 cup of barbecue sauce of your choice
2 tbsp Sriracha chili sauce or any kind of chili sauce (optional)
3 tbsp honey (more if you like it sweater)

1. Marinate the wings with salt, pepper, garlic powder and paprika for an hour.
2. Heat up the oil to about 350 degree F in a deep fryer, or you can use a deep heavy skillet with enough oil to fry the wings.
3. Lightly coat it with the flour. Fry the wings in batches until they’re golden brown and crispy.
4. In a small saucepan, heat up the BBQ sauce, chili sauce and honey. Once the wings is done toss it with some BBQ sauce. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Note: I over-fried the wings a bit that is why the color was a bit dark to my liking.

You think they are too dark to your liking? Because I seriously think the colour is just right. Yummy, I should make some but I don't have a deep fryer here with me. Isn't it annoying because home has everything and no one ever use it and there's nothing much here in Adelaide with me :(

Uh oh, is it chicken wings week? Well, I do agree about the crispiness and the deep-frying. When I bake/roast in the oven, it is definitely not as crispy, but of course still finger-licking good!

Lesley, there is no checkers here so I not sure how theirs look like :)

Mary, thank you.

Zue, I also hantu chicken wings. Carlos is not but he just love this. I think is the sauce :)

Reanaclaire, frying it in the deep fyer did the trick. It gives a nice even coloring.

Ju, thank you.

Anncoo, hope you like this.

Quinn, I think they are too dark :) I am actually not very keen of using the deep fryer as they used too much oil.

Sonia, hope they like this and you can alway omit the chili sauce.

Julie, thank you.

Hi there, I just made your wings tonight and they are great! I love the sweetness of the bbq sauce and honey and that heat from the Siracha -- definitely a keeper. Thank you.

Krissy, yea chicken wings is kind of expensive nowadays.

Hi there,

I marinated my wings with honey, fresh garlic, honey bbq sauce, lots of honey, brown sugar, salt pepper, and pinch of lemon, and some corn starh. I have just placed the wings in a pot to cook is this a good way to pre- cook before I fry the wings? I want the wongs to come out crispy any suggestions?

thanks

ICook4Fun said...

Anon, why do you need to pre-cook it. Wings are small and it will get cook in no time when you fry it up after marinating it. But you have to be cautious though. With so much of honey and brown sugar it might get burn easily when you fry them.
