My suitcases are packed and I will be going back to Malaysian to celebrate Chinese New Year this year. It will be a long vacation this time and I am looking forward to spend some time with my family and friends.

As usual I will be meeting up with some bloggers back home. If you are interested to join us do email me or leave a message here. I might not be able to update my blog from Malaysian but I already schedule some posting while I am away so hope you will continue to visit. Take care everyone and looking forward to see some of you in KL.

Daisy Cookies/Biskut Dahlia

These cooking made their appearance during festive occasions like Chinese New Year, Aidil Fitri, Diwali or Christmas in Malaysia. This is one of the very first cookies that I’ve learned to bake years ago too. One thing I like about these cookies is they look very pretty especially with the little red cherry on top. They are basically butter cookies that are light and literally melt in your mouth.

There are quite a few variations of Daisy cookies out there. Some use condensed milk, milk powder and custard powder but my recipe used none of those. This is one recipe that I had it for many years. I was too lazy to search for the special daisy mold in my garage so I just use a piping bag with star nozzle to pipe it. It was difficult to do that and I only managed to do a batch and in the end I just shape it with hand. It thinks it still look alright ;)

Cheddar and Parsley Biscuits

There is one chain of restaurant here called Red Lobster. The food there is just ok but I do love their Cheddar biscuits. They will serve a few of it on the table in place of bread basket. These are no ordinary biscuits. They are loaded with cheddar cheese and garlic and with some herbs in it too. I can polish them up in no time. I tried goggling for the recipes and most of the recipes use packaged baking mix which I wanted to avoid. So I end up creating a simple recipe which turns out pretty good. They were light, fluffy and full of cheese flavor. With the leftovers, I just reheating them up and make sandwiches out of it.

Crispy Oven Baked Chicken Wings

Happy New Year everyone. I hope all of you are looking forward to year 2014. I know I am :) Let's start the new year with something healthy. I am sure most of us love fried chicken wings. I know I do but I am trying to lessen our consumption of fried foods so I’ve done a few trial runs on creating crispy oven bake wings. I am trying to get it as crispy as the fried ones but minus all the oil. Well, I came up with this. It has crispy coating, juicy and tender meat and yes way less calories than the deep fried ones. I have to warn you. This is highly addictive so don’t overeat.
