Sushi

This was my first time making sushi. Not too bad, eh?? The next time I would probably make the rice less sticky and put more vinegar in it. I used sliced cucumber, peppers, crab meat, fresh tuna, carrots and avocado. It was pretty messy rolling up the CA roll. Hope I will do a better job the next time. I will try making Tamago and sushi with Spam next :) .Most important Carlos likes it and he even took some for work today.

Steamed Buns

My niece Diana has been asking me to make her some Red Bean Bao or steamed buns for so long and I finally made it for her last week. Making the buns is so easy now since there are so many ready pre-packed Bao flour and 'Red Bean ' paste at the Asian Supermarket. Just follow the instruction on the flour packaging and you will have the steamed buns in no time.

Red Bean Paste

With some leftover pastry we made some 'Char Siew Pau'

Winter Melon Soup

Is been a while since I last posted. My sister Angela is here so I am really busy taking her around and also lots of catching up to do with her. Here is a simple cold winter melon soup recipe which we really like especially when is eaten cold.

Ingredients :

1 pound of fresh grated winter melon
1 cup of dry longan
a handful of Chinese red dates
2 pandan leaves
Water and sugar

Put all ingredients and water in a pot and bring to boil. Simmer for half and hour and add in sugar. Serve hot or cold.

Note : The amount of water and sugar is up to you. If you like a thick winter melon soup use less water.
