Fried Chicken Drumsticks

I have been craving for some fried chicken for the past few days and finally made some yesterday. Carlos is not a fan of deep fried food but he went for seconds after he took the first bite of it. The chicken drumstick is perfectly seasoned, crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside.

Ingredients:

8 chicken drumsticks

Seasoning

1 tsp of salt
½ tsp of black pepper
1 tsp of garlic powder
1 tsp of chili powder
1 tsp of brown sugar

Flour Mixture

1 cup of flour
4 tbsp of cornstarch
1 tsp of salt
1 tsp of pepper
1 tsp of paprika
1 tsp of chili powder

1. Wash, clean, removes skin and fat from chicken drumsticks. Give the drumstick a few cuts with a knife.
2. Pat the chicken dry with a paper towel and place it in a large bowl. Add all the seasoning and mix well. Let it marinate overnight or for at least 4 hours.
3. Mix all the flour mixture ingredients together. Mix well and set it aside.
4. In a frying pan, put in some vegetable oil and bring it up to medium heat.
5. Lightly coat the drumstick with the seasoned flour, shake off the excess flour. Fry the drumstick, turning it often so that it cooks evenly and doesn’t get brown too fast.
6. Cook until drumstick it’s done and golden brown. Drain on paper towels and serve warm or at room temperature.

  10. Wow I can smell it from here! :)

I should really try doing my own mixture, than to rely on the heavily-MSGed Kentucky Flour. Thanks for sharing!

Little Inbox, I try not too fry too much. Only once a while.

Leemei, I don't like KFC here either. I find them too soggy and salty. I still prefer to make this myself :)

    Jencooks, thank you.

Pinky, you should try to do your own flour mix. At least you know what goes in there :)

My husband LOVES fried chicken. I should attempt this! Loving that you removed the skin. That is the part I dislike about fried chicken.

  23. Pixen, that is a rather long time since you had KFC :)

JOAT, hope you like it. It's always healthier to cook this yourself as you remove the skin and also use vegetable oil.

Dawn, hope you and your hubby like this.

LCOM, ha ha this is pretty good.

Cat, yeap especially with Lingham chili sauce :)

    Elin, you are welcome.

  26. You knowlah if i make fried chicken, it will be from a whole breast. Filet for him and the bone part for me.

Eh no need to dip the chicken into beaten egg before covered with flour ke?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Farina, we are so alike. I too prefer the bones and Carlos prefer the meaty part. Nope I didn't dip the chicken in the egg. Straight into the flour mixture.

I'm going to try your fried chicken drumsticks, but how long is cook till done?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Carol, it should take about 8-9 minutes. Just make sure the heat is on medium so that the chicken drumsticks will cook through inside.

  30. Hi!

I just made these for dinner tonight. Delicious and perfect! I served the chicken legs with mashed potatoes and fresh green beans. The best part is I have a couple of legs left over for a snack tomorrow!

Thanks so much for sharing this recipe!!!
