Zue gave me a few packets of petai the other day so I cooked it with some prawns. I used my homemade sambal to cook this dish.
Ingredients :
1 cup of petai
10 prawns - clean
1 onions - slice thinly
2 cloves of garlic - chopped
3 tbsp of homemade sambal
1 tsp of sugar
salt to taste
1) Warm up frying pan and add in some oil. Stir fry onion and garlic until lightly brown.
2) Add in prawns and cook for 1 min. Add in petai and homemade sambal.
3) Cook for another 2 min and add in sugar and salt.
4) Serve with warm rice.
Note : You can used any store bought sambal paste for this dish. Thank you Zue for the petai.

ReplyDeleteThat looks yummy, Gert. Sambal petai is my all-time favourite dish. I love eating it sandwiched between cucumber slices. Slurrrp. My mom cooks it with dried shrimps pounded into her sambal ingredients. I have to try this one day soon. So, your toilet is filled with lit aromatic candles? LOL!
ReplyDeleteWhat a coincidence Gert. I cooked sambal petai too last weekend and was about to post it in my next entri.
ReplyDeleteWooooo, my toilet sudah start 'berbau'...
My mom also add dried shrimps in the sambal belacan. Like Rita, I also like to eat it with cucumber.

Rita, this is my first time cooking petai here. Zue gave me some. I too prefer it with udang kering. Yeah, spray lots of air freshener in the toilets :)
ReplyDeleteCat, actually the frozen petai here is not as pungent as the one back home so is not so bad.
Beachlover, is good to have the homemade sambal in hand. Can cook so many dishes with it.
Nonya, my husband also lari lah :) :) but once a while is ok lah. Is not that we eat this everyday.
Jun, thanks for the cendol recipe. Watch out for my posting of it :)but I tak ada air kapur lah. Jadi tak the cendol without it?
Zaza, you tak suka petai ya. Tak apa you makan the prawns and your husband makan the petai. I jugak suka the udang better than the petai :)
