Rose Syrup Panna Cotta - Day 1

This is the very first post for the Royal Selangor Pewter Jellyriffic challenge. I’ve been trying out a few jelly recipes. Some turn out well and some not. I encounter a few mishaps along the way when I was trying to unmold the jelly. After a few attempts I finally got the hang of using the jelly moulds. So my dear friends and readers do join me and other 9 other bloggers for the month of October as we experiment and share our ways of using mould and support a great cause at the same time. In conjunction with the Breast Cancer Awareness Month I made something pink.

Ingredients for the pink layer:

1 tsp agar agar powder
150 ml water
2 tbsp sugar – more if you like it sweeter
200 ml milk
1 tbsp rose syrup
1-2 drops of pink coloring

1. Combined the agar agar powder and water and mix well. Cook it over low heat until agar agar powder completely dissolved.
2. Add in the milk and sugar. Cook it over medium low heat until sugar dissolve and it come to a slow boil. Add in the rose syrup and coloring. Check the sweetness if it is to your liking. Pour it into the Jelly moulds and let it set.
3. Once it is set, take out the jelly, cut into 4 segments. Put 2 segments of the jelly back into the mould and leave the rest empty. Prepare the white layer.

Ingredients for the white layer

1 tsp agar agar powder
150 ml water
200 ml milk
2 ½ tbsp sugar – more if you like it sweeter
1 tsp vanilla

1. Combined the agar agar and water and mix well. Cook over low heat until the agar agar powder completely dissolved.
2. Add in the milk, sugar and vanilla. Cook over medium heat until it boils. Remove from heat. Spoon the agar agar mixture into the empty sections of the moulds.
3. Let it cool completely in the fridge before serving.

nice to see, yummy to eat... i think you can use your choc& corn agar2... make it pencil look-a-like... fill in the choc portion, after that fill in the yellow portion until 3/4 mould... once it's set, use a spoon to take out some jelly around the mould (to make it like a sharpened pencil)... and then put the balance of the choc portion... hehe..this is just my 2 cent...

  18. Looks so beautiful, and yummy too, if you like you can layer the agar-agar mixture with some thin biscuit, such as Marie regal biscuit or maybe coconut biscuit etc.

For the final time it looks good enough to eat! In my opinion, it reminds me of those japanese geishas face paint due to the colours.
