Gert,
ReplyDeletethe close up picture make me drools. It's mouth watering and thanks for sharing it with us. :) The shortcrust or puff pastry; is there any brand that you recommend?
I never try to make apple pie b4.I guess I'm not a fan of apple pie fan..hehehe..maybe I can replace pineapple with apple.Gert isn't the pie crust flaky?.
ReplyDeleteYum! I might try these but maybe cut down on a bit of sugar and add a little jam centre if i can seal them up nicely =)
ReplyDeleteGreat looking apple turnover, Gert... I wonder if we can put blueberry fillings instead of apple...
ReplyDeletei love apple pie and apple turnovers...with a cup of coffee or a hot tea its perfect!!
ReplyDeleteWhoaAAA...look at that apple essence flowing out!
ReplyDeleteohhh yum! my sister was just telling me i need to make some apple turnovers! i may just have to try this recipe out!
ReplyDeleteYatie, the brand of pastry I used is either Pillsbury or Wegmans store brand. You can use any brand.
ReplyDeleteLesley, this is shortcrust pastry like the one you used for your pie. You can make coconut pie, peach pie or even mango pie.
Stars, happy baking :)
Cat, you can put any filling in it. Just remember don't over fill it with the filling.
dhanggit, good to see you again :) Hope you are feeling better.
Tigerfish, :) :)
Natalie, happy baking.
Have yet to make this but sure looks easy and yummy!
ReplyDeleteThis has nothing to do with your food, except that it sure looks delicious.
ReplyDeleteI was in Chinatown last weekend for a haircut and found one opened by our fellow citizen. It's called Lai's Beauty Salon, 139 N. 9th St. Philly, PA 19107. She was glad to meet me and hope to meet more M'sians. I'm new here and do not know any M'sians at all, except those I see in Banana Leaf R'rant (but our conversations go as far as what I'd like to eat). But I kinda 'know' you through your blog. So I figure if I spread to words out to you and maybe you to others, we can support our people?
Last but not least, keep up your great cooking!
Emily
Emily, thanks for your comment. I will sure look for this lady if I nned a hair cut in Chinatown. By the way we do have a group of Malaysian here in Philly/Delaware where we meet up once or twice a year. There will be a gathering next weekend and if you are interested in meeting some of them do e.mail me and I will give you the details. My e.mail is at my profile. Take care.
ReplyDeleteChing, make this when you come home :)
ReplyDeleteThese look delicious! They might be good to try for my next brunch.
ReplyDeleteThese look fantastic! What's the yield on them? It looks like nine from the picture but I wanted to check!
ReplyDeleteI think i'm going to make tiny ones for a reception - more like finger food...would you be able to tell me the approximate size of the turnovers when they're cut into circles so I can adjust the baking time accordingly?
Thank you!!
